About Lorem Ipsum
What is lorem ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin text derived from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum (45 BC). Designers and developers have used it as placeholder copy since the 1960s because readers ignore it instead of reading it, so they focus on the layout.
How many paragraphs should I generate?
For a landing page mockup, 2–3 paragraphs per section is usually enough. For testing long-form layout or overflow behaviour, generate 10 or more. You can generate up to 100 units at once.
Why does the first sentence always repeat?
Because the classic opening ("Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit") is what makes filler text immediately recognisable as placeholder. Uncheck the box if you want random text from the start.
Is the text copyrighted?
No. Lorem ipsum is public domain and has been used freely for over fifty years.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The generator is plain JavaScript running in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
